If you don’t have the time and resources to participate in our workshops or on site coaching sessions; I do offer virtual mentoring services via phone, instant messaging, FaceTime, Facebook Live or Google Hangouts. I’ll provide tips and tutorials, image review and critiques. We’ll spend some time on workflow and efficiency, including using and creating actions and presets. We’ll also cover data backup strategies. Finally, if you’re looking at selling your work and services we’ll discuss pricing and marketing strategies.

You can reserve One (1), three (3), or six (6) hour blocks of time to be used in half hour increments which equate to two (2), six (6) or twelve (12) sessions.

Please complete the form after reserving your session:

Please describe specific trouble spots or the goals you hope to achieve through mentoring.

Here’s some feedback on the mentoring program:

Jose Sariñana of El Paso, Texas shared:

“Melanie has been my mentor since November of 2015. Any Nikon or lens question I have asked her she has had an answer! Thanks to Melanie I was able to capture my first Milky Way picture with a shooting star!!  Thank you Melanie for all your words of wisdom!!”

It has been a true pleasure to work with Jose the last few years.  In addition to his first Milky Way shot, he has captured magnificent lightning over El Paso during the summer monsoon season.  In fact, his captures have been featured by News Channel 9 weatherman, Chuck DeBroder – which says a lot about  his talent and skills. I’m so glad to have played a small part in helping him build experience and confidence. I expect more great things from this guy!

Cash  Keith of Uvalde, Texas shared:

“If there is one thing that seems to bring Mel as much pleasure as shooting – its teaching.  She has the patience of Job and truly loves working with and teaching others.  I recall one evening of trying to shoot a full moon and she remotely sat there with me shot by shot, giving me feedback from reading my RAW images and their EXIF data. It was as if she was there shooting with me.  If you are new to photography or just want someone to help you with composition, I can’t recommend anybody higher than Melanie Gentry. “

I’ve known Cash since his parents taught school at Dell City ISD in the 1980’s. We had lost touch for way too long when he contacted me seeking advice for he and his daughter with their photography.  Through virtual mentoring we have been able to reconnect, reflect and reminisce on days gone by and build on his natural talent. Cash is an avid outdoorsman, true perfectionist and as you can see by this Big Bend capture –  a talented artist. It has been a privilege to assist he and Meridith in their photography adventures.
